Making Magic Class

“Lani is a knowledgeable, personable, and generous teacher who takes overwhelming concepts and makes them accessible.”

What is Making Magic?
Here at StoryWonk, we believe that there are two elements to storytelling: magic and craft. Craft is the rules, the structure, the conflict, the ground under your feet. Magic is the idea, the fire, the passion, the excitement, the thrill, the chase. Craft is the delivery system for your magic. Magic is what made you want to write the book in the first place.

Craft is undeniably important, but your magic is unique. Without your magic, your story won’t have any life or identity — and just as importantly, it will be much more difficult to write.

In Making Magic, Lani will teach you how to honor, build and fuel your magic throughout your writing process. Whether you’ve already started your book, or are trying to inject life back into a manuscript you’ve revised into the ground, Making Magic is the place for you.

Come to class with:
A basic one-sentence idea that describes the story you want to write, or a full novel that needs the magic back. Or anything in between.

Leave the class with:
A story that excites you and has you ready to write, and a better sense of your unique voice and magic.

How it works:
The Making Magic class consists of four lectures, each focusing on a particular area of your magic. After you’ve paid for the class via PayPal, you’ll be directed to a page where you can download the Windows or Mac version of the class package, which incudes:

  • Four 30-45 minute video lectures, plus the introduction video
  • .mp3 audio versions of each lecture
  • .pdf notebooks for each lecture

These files are all free from copy protection, so you can use them on your computer, smartphone, or other device — whatever works for you!
