The beginning of 2017 has been tempestuous and challenging, but it’s finally time to talk about the future.

First of all, for those of you who may have missed the news: Lani and I are divorcing. It’s a difficult time, but we’re moving forward with hope and positivity. We’ve talked a lot about what this transition means for StoryWonk, and decided together that Lani will be leaving both the site, and all the podcasts. This is obviously a huge decision, but we feel that it’s the best way of securing a happier future for her, while allowing what we’ve built here at StoryWonk to continue.

So, what does that mean for our listeners and friends? For the moment, the shows that I produce by myself will continue — The Journeyman Writer will return next week, the There And Back Again series on the works of JRR Tolkien will go ahead as planned, I have an upcoming lecture for Story And Star Wars on the subject of Rogue One, and I’m glad to announce a new seminar series on Harry Potter And The Prisoner Of Azkaban, which will begin within the next few weeks. Keep an eye on the site for more details!

But that’s not all — with Lani’s blessing, I’ll continue some of the other shows too, with new co-hosts. That means that Dusted will be back, there’s a good chance that We Can Do This All Day will continue, and I will finish out the end of the Voyager book club in The Scot And The Sassenach. I don’t have a clear timeline for those shows just yet, and they’ll probably be gone for at least another week or two, but they will be back.

I’m also going to take a close look at the Patreon page, and figure out some new and fun things to share with our generous and amazing Patreon supporters — stay tuned for more information on that in the next few days!

I know that I speak for Lani too when I say that we are enormously grateful for all the love and support we’ve received from friends and listeners over the years. It’s been a tough start to the new year, but I’m looking forward to getting back to work, to great things for StoryWonk, and to even more discussion, analysis and celebration of the stories you love!
